IPL 2024: PBKS look troubled as sanguine KKR eye a cracker

News

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for Punjab Kings, having witnessed unexpected results in their last eight encounters. Languishing at the second spot from bottom in the points table, Punjab Kings are in dire need of victory as they gear up to battle Kolkata Knight Riders in the 42nd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League on Friday at Eden Gardens.

Heading into this clash, Kolkata Knight Riders find themselves in a commanding position, occupying the second spot on the points table. With five wins from seven games, KKR have displayed enough consistency and resilience, establishing themselves as one of the formidable teams to make it to the play-offs.

KKR have struck a balance in their game, showcasing their brilliance in both batting and bowling departments. Their batting has seen Sunil Narine, Phil Salt, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Shreyas Iyer leading the assault at the top of the order. In the middle-order, Rinku Singh and Andre Russell have delivered invaluable performances.

Punjab Kings, on the other hand, have endured a challenging campaign, languishing at the bottom of the points table. Lack of consistency and talent in the middle-order has torn down their campaign, lessening their chances for the play-offs. Respectable contributions from Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma have played major roles in their batting order, however it hasn’t been enough to overcome the main cause, which is collective efforts.
