Former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth has hit out at Indian management for leaving out batter Ruturaj Gaikwad from India's squad fro the upcoming T20I World Cup 2024. Gaikwad has been in remarkable form in the ongoing Indian Premier League, playing stunning knocks. Srikkanth also questioned the selection of Shubman Gill, who has been struggling to find his form.

On Monday, India released their squad for the T20I World Cup, with few youngsters earning their maiden call-ups. But, Gaikwad’s omission didn’t settle well with former cricketer, who called Gill’s selection as a part of ‘favouritism’.

"Shubman Gill is totally out of form, but why he's selected in the team. There's no doubt that Ruturaj Gaikwad deserves a place. He scored more than 500 runs in 17 innings. He scored a century against Australia. Shubman Gill is selectors' delight. He gets chance even if he fails. He finds place even if he fails in Test, ODIs and T20s. There's too much of favoritism in selection. The team selection is all about favoritism," Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

In all, Shubman Gill has scored 320 runs in the ongoing Indian Premier League in last ten games. On the other side, Ruturaj Gaikwad has slammed 509 in last ten games.
