IPL 2024: Jadeja stars as CSK blow away Punjab
Chennai Super Kings outmuscled Punjab Kings in a pivotal victory on Sunday, beating them by (28) runs at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. CSK bowlers’ stellar performance bowled the team to victory, restricting PBKS to a mere total 139/9 in (20) in pursuit of a target of (168). Ravindra Jadeja majorly played a central role, taking three wickets and making scoring difficult for PBKS.
Even seamers exploited the conditions very well, with Tushar Deshpande and Simarjeet Singh returning with two wickets each. PBKS found themselves in a struggling mode right from the start, losing wickets at regular intervals and failing to build substantial partnerships.
Asked to bat, CSK didn’t have the best start after they lost Ajinkya Rahane early on, but thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell, who both steadied the innings a bit, chipping in with crucial cameos of (32) and (30) respectively. Lower the order, a substantial knock from Ravindra Jadeja, scoring (43) off (26), dragged the side to a valuable total of 167/9 in (20).
