Royal Challengers Bengaluru eased to a victory over high-flying Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs on Thursday at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Virat Kohli (51 off 43) and Rajat Patidar (50 off 20) blasted their half-centuries, rocketing RCB to a much-needed win to fuel their dry campaign.

A little help from young blaster Cameron Green, hitting 37 from 20 deliveries, paved the way to a formidable total of  206/7 in (20). Stellar performances from Virat Kohli and Patidar laid the solid foundation for RCB’s indispensable victory. Patidar’s innings was topped when he smacked Mayank Markande for four successive sixes, producing 27 runs off the 11th over.

Chasing a daunting total,, Sunrisers Hyderabad began on a dull note, with explosive Travis Head, who has taken the tournament by storm, and Aiden Markram departing for (1) and (7) respectively. More so, SRH’s middle order struggled to maintain the required run rate against a disciplined RCB bowling attack.

Meanwhile, RCB bowlers chipped in with pivotal breakthroughs at regular intervals. Down the order, SRH skipper Pat Cummins looked to be putting the team back in the game with his 31 off 15, cracking three sixes and a boundary. However, Cameron Green struck to send back Cummins. Shahbaz Ahmed top-scored for SRH with (40) unbeaten as they finished on 171/8 (20). For RCB, Karn Sharma, Cameron Green and Swapnil Singh claimed two wickets each.
