Lately, Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli has found himself under scrutiny for his strike rate, despite consistently churning out runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ongoing IPL. And the discussion surrounding Kohli’s strike rate overshadows his valuable contribution to the team, although RCB have not had the best of tournament, having only won two games in their last nine outings.

On Thursday, RCB recorded their second victory of the tournament, downing high-flying Sunrisers Hyderabad by 4 runs. Virat Kohli made pivotal 51 off 43 at the top of the order, laying the foundation for RCB's challenging total. Kohli is also the top run-getter in tournament, holding orange cap. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar wasn’t quite impressed with Kohli’s strike rate.

"In the middle, he just seemed to have lost touch. I am not sure of the exact numbers, but I think from 31-32 to the time he got out, he did not hit a boundary. So at the end of the day, when he got out when you are facing the strike in the first ball of the innings and you get out in the 14th or the 15th over, you have got strike rate of 118, that's not what your team expects from you," Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

Virat Kohli’s entire innings included four boundaries and one six. Starting off brilliantly, Virat Kohli’s innings slowed down, with SRH spinners not allowing Kohli to accelerate. Eventually, Jaydev Unadkat took out Kohli picking out Abdul Samad at deep square.
