Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has floated his own reasoning for India’s success at the upcoming T20I World Cup 2024. There is a huge suspense building up to India’s T20I World Cup squad that will be announced in the coming days. There is enough talent young and experienced, hoping to make the cut in India’s squad.

There are however few names like Virat Kohli, skipper Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, who are certain to spearhead team’s campaign at the World Cup. Lately, many youngsters have also solidified their case by playing eye-popping innings in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Shivam Dube has emerged as one of the contenders to make the cut on the back of his explosive batting skills and rapid fire innings.

Virat Kohli generally bats at no.3, but Harbhajan Singh feels Virat can come to bat at no.4, making way for Shivam Dube to bat at no.3. Harbhajan Singh also backed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma to open the innings for India.

“I believe Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma should open for India, and Virat Kohli should come at no.3,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.

“I would like to see a left-right combination at the top. If 6-7 overs are played, and if we have a player like Shivam Dube, he can walk in at no.3. Kohli can then walk in at 4. We have to take the horses-for-courses approach here, and there’s no disrespect in that. Kohli is a great player, whether he plays at no.3 or 4, the team comes first. Even if you ask him this question, he will say the team comes first.”
