Deepti Sharma named UP Warriorz’s skipper for WPL 2025

Deepti Sharma has been named UP Warriorz’s skipper for the upcoming season of Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. Deepti Sharma’s ascension comes after Alyssa Healy was ruled out of the tournament owing to a stress injury in her right foot. Deepti enjoyed a successful run during the WPL 2024, scoring 295 runs from eight innings and picking up ten wickets. 

"I am delighted and honoured to be named captain of the UP Warriorz, which is a team from my home state. The UP Warriorz has a fantastic squad, and we are confident that we will entertain our fans with the Warriorz brand of cricket, at the WPL this season as well. We can't wait to play in Lucknow in front of our home fans, and hope to inspire the next generation of women athletes," Deepti Sharma said.

Deepti Sharma is UP Warriorz’s second highest wicket-taker with 19 wickets from 17 game. She is also team’s third highest run-getter with 385 runs from 16 innings. UP Warriorz will kick off their WPL 2025 campaign with the match against Gujarat Giants Women on February 16 (Sunday).
