A fortnight to go for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, India’s preparations are in full swing as they have been continuously witnessing resounding performances from their players. On Sunday, India recorded a massive performance from their players across all departments in the second ODI against Australia as they beat Australia heavily to register a 99-run win that also drove them to the series victory. In the three-match series, India are leading by 2-0. The biggest takeaways from India’s win over Australia in the second ODI remained the eye-catching performance from Shreyas Iyer who made his return to the team after six months. Iyer was going through back Injury that put him out of action for long.

Iyer’s absence was being a big headache for India ahead of the ODI World Cup but his sensational comeback would have given the team a big impetus. Iyer is a flexible batter who can bat at any position which becomes a big positive for the team. On Sunday, Shreyas Iyer came to bat at No.3 where he made a big mark with his century. Iyer’s century was brimmed with brilliant shots and a great composure. Alongside Shreyas Iyer, there was a huge knock from Shubman Gill who scored (104) runs as they both set-up a 200-run partnership to take India to the powerful total of (399).

This total was also India’s highest total against Australia. One other factor that India would enjoy is the brilliant comeback from Suryakumar Yadav who returned to his orthodox cricket of dealing in boundaries. Yadav smashed (72) runs unbeaten that included six boundaries and six maximums. It had been a dry period for Suryakumar Yadav, but with this performance, he has shown that he is capable of causing tremendous damage. Stand-in skipper KL Rahul too has been amazingly impressive with his back-to-back half-centuries in the ongoing series. He has also been successful in demonstrating his leadership skills. India went into this series without their stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who both were rested for the first two matches keeping in mind the upcoming ODI World Cup. The final between both teams will be played on Wednesday in Rajkot. For the third and final ODI, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back in the team to ramp up their World Cup preparations for the approaching ODI World Cup.
