World Cup 2023: India put up a fighting total against England

Having been put into bat, India experienced a bumpy start to their innings in their World Cup match against England on Sunday at Ekana Cricket Stadium. India’s top three batters Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer lost their wickets in a quick succession which put the team into a problematic situation. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma stood firm to bring the team out of trouble with his much needed 87-run knock. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav played crucial innings of (39) and (49) respectively to help the team put up a total of (229/9) in (50) overs. For England, David Willey took three wickets while Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid returned with two wickets each. Mark Wood took one wicket.
