WBBL 2023: Adelaide strikers Women thrash Sydney Thunder Women

In the 48th match of the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League, Adelaide Strikers Women thrashed Sydney Thunder Women by three runs on Tuesday at Cricket Central in Sydney. Put into bat, Adelaide Strikers Women scored (121) runs from (20) overs after losing (7) wickets. Laura Wolvaardt top-scored for Adelaide Strikers Women with her 70-run score unbeaten. Down the order, they had a little support from Danielle Gibson and Megan Schutt who scored (20) and (16*) respectively. Their other top batters lost their wickets early on with Katie Mack, Tahlia McGarth, Bridget Patterson and Madeline Penna scoring (0), (4), (6) and (0) respectively. Sydney Thunder Women, on the other hand, in their chase registered a disastrous start with openers Chamari Athapaththu (0) and Phoebe Litchfield (1) going back early. Marizanne Kapp gave middle-order boost with her (16) runs. There was a little more help from Tahlia Wilson and Sammy-Jo Johnson who scored (33) and (26*) respectively but Sydney Thunder Women failed to find stability in their innings that led them to lose the game.
