Team India’s defeat in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia came as a huge disappointment after men in blue lost the game by 6 wickets. Australia shone in their batting and bowling to thwart India’s bid to lift the prestigious title. Rock-solid India had remained unbeaten during the league stage games as they continued to register victories one after another. Australia, meanwhile had made an incredible comeback after suffering their first two defeats. Australia went on to win the World Cup after registering nine straight wins in the tournament. Australia had chased down the target of 241 to win the title. Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, after India’s loss, said that best team didn’t win the game.

“I can never accept that the best team has won the World Cup. The Indian team is the best team on paper,” Mohammad Kaif said on Star Sports.

Reacting to Mohammad Kaif’s remarks, Australian opener David Warner said that it doesn’t matter what’s on paper, you need to perform at the end of the day.

“I like MK (Kaif), issue is it does not matter what’s on paper. At the end of the day you need to perform when it matters. That’s why they call it a final. That’s the day that counts and it can go either way, that’s sports. 2027 here we come,” Warner wrote on ‘X’ (formerly known as twitter).
