“No disrespect”: Mitchell Marsh on his controversial photo with his feet on World Cup trophy

Australia lifted the ODI World Cup title 2023 by defeating India in the final under the leadership of skipper Pat Cummins. This was Australia’s record-sixth win for the prestigious title. What transpired after Australia’s win was all-rounder Mitchell Marsh’s picture that went viral where he was seen resting his feet on the World Cup trophy. Mitchell Marsh’s picture with his feet on top of the trophy went Virat in no time that drew a lot of flak for Marsh. Following a tremendous amount of opprobrium, Mitchell Marsh has come forward with the clarification by stating that he didn’t mean any disrespect in that picture.
“There was obviously no disrespect meant in that photo at all. I haven’t given it too much thought, I haven’t seen a lot on social media even though everyone tells me it’s gone off. There is nothing in that,” Marsh told SEN.
Australia had won the World Cup title on the strength of stunning knock played by batter Travis Head who had scored (137) runs to ensure Australia’s win. Marnus Labuschagne had too played a key role with his 58-run score unbeaten. Both Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne had shared a 192-run partnership to take the team over the line. Talking about Mitchell Marsh, he returned with (441) runs in the tournament.
