WI vs ENG 1st ODI: England's huge defeat against West Indies

Sensational knock from Shai Hope propelled West Indies to a four-wicket win against England in the first ODI of the three-match series on Sunday at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Deciding to bat after winning the toss, England handed down the total of (325) in (50) overs after losing all of their wickets. Phil Salt and Will Jacks gave a confident start to England with their scores of (45) and (26) respectively. In the middle, Zak Crawley gave the side a big impetus with his 48-run knock. Down the order, Harry Brook’s 71-run knock helped England go past (300). Later, Sam Curran and Brydon Carse played a big cameo with their knocks of (38) and (31*) respectively to take the side to (325). Chasing the total, West Indies got off to a resounding start after Alick Athanaze and Brandon King scored (66) and (35) respectively. Shai Hope remained unbeaten on (109) while Shimron Hetmyer and Romario Shepherd scored (32) and (48) respectively to get the team their victory. With the help of this win, West Indies are leading the three-match series 1-0. The second ODI match between both teams will be played on Wednesday.
