Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of Test series against South Africa, Abhimanyu Easwaran named replacement

Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa that is slated to begin from December 26 in Centurion. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed Gaikwad’s unavailability for the test series against South Africa. Ruturaj Gaikwad's absence comes after he picked up an injury to his right finger that he suffered during India’s second ODI match against South Africa. BCCI also named Abhimanyu Easwaran as the replacement of Ruturaj Gaikwad. The BCCI in its statement stated that Gaikwad underwent scans, and following an expert consultation, the board’s medical team decided to rule him out for the remainder of the tour. He will be reporting to the NCA for further management of his injury.
