India have added uncapped player Avesh khan into their squad for the second Test match against South Africa that is slated to commence from January 3 in Cape Town. Avesh’s addition to the squad comes hours after India’s massive defeat in the first Test match against South Africa on Thursday at the Centurion. Avesh had recently played in India’s three-match ODI series wherein he claimed six wickets. He’s come in as the replacement for injured Mohammed Shami who is recovering from an ankle injury.

Overall, Avesh Khan has been in eight ODIs and nineteen T20Is for India, boasting a record of economic spell. Avesh Khan has 148 first-class wickets. In the first Test, India were handed a big defeat by proteas as they lost it by an innings and 32 runs that also ended their prospects of winning the Test series in South Africa. India’s bowling attack didn’t come off on the expected terms that gave South African batters an upper hand in the match.

India Squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (vc), Prasidh Krishna, KS Bharat (wk), Abhimanyu Easwaran, Avesh Khan
