SL vs ZIM 2nd T20I: Sri Lanka eye series win against competitive Zimbabwe

Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe are gearing up for another encounter in the second T20I on Tuesday at R. Premadasa Stadium. Sri Lanka emerged victorious in the first T20I against Zimbabwe by beating them by three wickets, taking the 1-0 lead in the three-match series. In the first T20I, veteran Angelo Mathews showcased the cricketing prowess to play his pivotal role in securing a win for the Sri Lankan team.

Mathews returned to the shortest format of the game after three years as his comeback was bang on. Mathews scored (46) off (38) to announce his return to the team. This victory also held significance for all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga who started his captaincy stint in the T20Is with this series. 

Put to bat, Zimbabwe scored a competitive total of 143/5 in (20) overs on the back of a wonderful innings from skipper Sikandar Raza scoring (62) off (42). Sri Lanka faced a challenge from Zimbabwe bowlers, but the success for Sri Lanka was fueled by the experienced all-rounder Angelo Mathews, whose remarkable innings ensured team’s win in the high-voltage clash. 

Going into this match, Sri Lanka will look to maintain their winning momentum, while Zimbabwe will be eager to stage a comeback. Angelo Mathews' form will undoubtedly be a key factor as both teams gear up for the clash.
