Travis Head likely to feature in Gabba Test despite contracting Covid

Australian batter Travis Head is likely to feature in the second Test match against West Indies at the Gabba despite going through Covid. Travis Head recently contracted COVID-19 virus after Australia’s colossal 10-wicket win over West Indies in the first Test at Adelaide last week.

Head had played a remarkable 119-run innings to pull Australia out of a concerning situation after Australia’s top-order batters fell through cheaply. However, Travis Head didn’t travel with the team to Brisbane for the second Test, but Pat Cummins has expressed that Head will have a net session on Tuesday.

“Think he’s almost out of it. He’s fine, feeling good. Think he’ll train tonight. Obviously, even if he’s still positive he can still play, there’ll just be a few protocols. But think he’s pretty close to a negative,” Cummins told reporters.

If Travis Head plays the second Test, he will have to play through some additional protocols such as maintaining distance from team players while waiting to bat and keeping himself away from teammates during the on-field celebrations.
