Beth Mooney’s explosive knock hands Australia series win

Australia Women thrashed South Africa Women by five wickets in the third and final T20I match on Tuesday at Blundstone Arena to close out the series with 2-1 series win. Beth Mooney starred in Australia’s thrilling finish with her knock of (82) after other top-order batters lost their wickets quite early. Beth Mooney’s solid stay ensured Australia’s win, leaving South Africa in tatters who at point were looking to emerge triumphant. 

Chasing the total of 162, Australia women received early setbacks with the wickets of their crucial batters in the form of Alyssa Healy 10), Ellyse Perry (13) and Phoebe Litchfield (4). However, Beth Mooney stood strong to not let South Africa make their way into the game despite chipping in with wickets at regular intervals. Beth Mooney, meanwhile, lost her wicket for (82), but Ashleigh Gardner remained unbeaten on (26) alongside Grace Harris (8) to take the team over the line. 

Earlier, put into bat, South Africa were powered to a competitive total of (162) with the career-best knock coming in from Marizanne Kapp scoring (75). Down the order, Anneke Bosch and Chloe Tryon scored (21) and (26) respectively. Marizanne Kapp shared an 80-run partnership with Anneke Bosch to push the side to a great total. South Africa lost their openers Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits for (15) and (0) respectively.
