SL vs AFG One-Off Test: De Silva era begins as Sri Lanka start their Test campaign

Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will be locking horns in the One-Off Test match that will be played from Friday (2nd February) at Singhalese Sports Club. Sri Lanka will be led by their newly appointed skipper Dhananjaya de Silva amid the presence from Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal among others.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, will be led by Hashmatullah Shahidi with the availability from their players Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah among others. They are set to miss the service of their seasoned spinner Rashid Khan who remains on the sidelines following the back surgery.
Sri Lanka, led by their new captain Dhananjaya de Silva, will rely on the experience of their key players to guide them through the challenge from Afghanistan. With a blend of seasoned campaigners, Sri Lanka would aim to showcase their cricketing prowess on their home turf.
On the other hand, Afghanistan, known for their fighting spirit, enters the contest with the determination to prove their mettle in the Test arena. With a mix of talented spinners and hard-hitting batsmen, Afghanistan will be looking to make a statement and continue their upward trajectory in international cricket. Afghanistan so far have played seven Tests in their entire Test history.
The match is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM (IST).
