KL Rahul to miss Rajkot Test, replacement named

In a terrific blow to team India ahead of the third Test match against England in Rajkot, batter KL Rahul has been ruled out of the game due to an injury. It will further amplify the problems for India who are already reeling from the absence of batting maestro Virat Kohli having been away due to personal reasons.
“Rahul has reached 90 per cent of match fitness and is progressing well under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team," BCCI confirmed in a press release. "He will continue his recovery process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to be completely match-fit for the fourth and fifth Test."
KL Rahul had already not been in action in the second game, missing it due to quadriceps injury that he picked up during the first Test.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul had been added to India's squad for the remaining three Test matches with the condition that his participation will be subject to fitness. Rahul's absence might lead to great complexity in India's top-order batting lineup, considering Shreyas Iyer's unavailability who was earlier ruled out of the series due to fitness setbacks.
Devdutt Padikkal, who is KL Rahul's Karnataka team mate has been given a maiden call. Padikkal has had incredibly successfully run in the Ranji Trophy this season, amassing 556 runs in six innings at an average of 92.66.
