NZ vs SA 2nd Test day 1 stumps: South Africa resist Kiwis to end the day on a high note

Leading the two-match series 1-0, New Zealand are hosting South Africa in the second Test match that started on Tuesday at Seddon Park. South Africa, on day one, won the toss and decided to bat, but their decision to bat first might have backfired after team recorded a murky start to their innings with openers Neil Brand and Clyde Fortune not quite get going.
However, the middle-order batters in the form of Raynard van Tonder and David Bedingham somewhat stabilised the innings with their scores of (32) and (39) respectively. Rachin Ravindra, meanwhile, in the post tea session had double breakthroughs, ruining South Africa's smooth comeback.
Continuous pressure from New Zealand bowlers Rachin Ravindra, Will O’Rourke and Matt Henry put South Africa on the backfoot as they continued to lose their wickets at regular intervals.
Despite being under pressure, South Africa’s lower-order batters Ruan de Swardt and Shaun von Berg led the team’s recovery with their most required partnership. Both batters showed a strong resistance with their unbeaten scores of (55) and (34) to deny New Zealand mount pressure on them. At stumps on day 1, South Africa were 220/6.
