Yanking Australia from a huge turmoil, the duo of Cameron Green and Josh Hazlewood scripted history on day two of the first Test match between New Zealand and Australia at Basin Reserve on Friday. They combined to record the highest tenth-wicket partnership for Australia against New Zealand in Test cricket.

Both players had a huge job to do after Australia lost their top order batters to a fiery bowling attack from New Zealand bowlers. Both batters batted with calm and serene to put on 116, breaking the previous record of 114 set by Jason Gillespie and Glenn McGrath in 2004 in Brisbane. This was also the sixth of 100 or more runs tenth-wicket partnership for Australia in Tests.

Green withstood the New Zealand bowlers with his composed innings, consolidating Australia’s first Innings score. This was Cameron Green’s best Test score as he remained unbeaten on 174, notching up his second Test hundred. Australia, in their first innings, rocked up to the 383-run total.
