IPL 2024: A few players to remain MIA as IPL 2024 nears its start

The 17th edition of Indian Premier League is approaching fast as it is scheduled to get underway from 22nd March with the opening game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings slated to be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Thereâs huge excitement building up to the start of cash-rich league. But, thereâs also a tinge of disappointment prevailing among die-hard fans who will not be seeing their favourite cricketers, who are going to miss the tournament due to their respective setbacks, in action.
Here are the players who won't be playing in the IPL 2024 or will miss few matches due to their respective issues:
(Mohammad Shami)
Leading bowler Mohammad Shamiâs absence will give a significant blow to Gujarat Titans as he will remain away from the tournament this year. Leading wicket-taker at the ODI World Cup 2023, Mohammad Shami will miss the entire IPL 2024 due to an ankle injury. Shami recently underwent a surgery following which he was ruled out of the tournament.

New Zealand's batting maestro and Chennai Super Kings' opener, Devon Conway has been sidelined from IPL 2024 for about eight weeks after he had surgery on his left thumb. Chennai Super Kings have refrained from naming the replacement for Conway.

Kolkata Knight Ridersâ blistering opener Jason Roy has withdrawn from the Indian Premier League (2024) due to personal issues. His compatriot Phil Salt has replaced him in KKRâs squad. On the other hand, pacer Gus Atkinson, who is also from KKR, is out of the IPL to manage his workload ahead of the T20I World Cup 2024.

England's explosive batsman Harry Brook has pulled out from IPL 2024 in order to be with his family, after his grandma passed away in February. His absence comes as a setback to Delhi Capitalsâ batting lineup. However, they havenât named any replacement.

England speedster Mark Wood will be unavailable for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024 In order to manage his workload ahead of the T20I World Cup 2024. Mark Wood will not be participating in the IPL 2024 in its entirety. West Indiesâ rookie fast bowler Shamar Joseph has been named Woodâs replacement.

Delhi Capitalsâ fast bowler Lungi Ngidi was confirmed to have been ruled out of the IPL 2024 due to the lower-back injury that he picked up during SA20 earlier this year. Delhi Capitals have named Jake Fraser-McGurk as the replacement for Ngidi.
