Bangladesh are trailing by 248 runs as they finished the day 1 of the ongoing first Test match against Sri Lanka on 32/3 on Friday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The day one completely belonged to Sri Lanka after they rode on the remarkable performance from Dhananjaya de Silva (102) and Kamindu Mendis (102) notching up boisterous knocks.

Sri Lanka registered a slow and steady start with top order batters losing their wickets in quick succession. However, they eased their way after de Silva and Kamindu Mendis lifted the side out of trouble.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, put early pressure on Sri Lanka with Khaled Ahmed and Nahid Rana returning with three wickets each. Somehow, Bangladesh managed to winkle out Sri Lanka for 280. Starting their first innings, Bangladesh lost their promising batters to an excellent bowling from Sri Lanka.

Tight bowling from Vishwa Fernando and Kasun Rajitha led Bangladesh’s early collapse. Both bowlers returned with two and one wicket respectively.
