“This franchise is something different from all others”: Shivam Dube on playing with freedom at CSK

Shivam Dube fired on all cylinders in Chennai Super Kings’ match against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, hitting big sixes and making a grand start to his match-winning knock. Shivam Dube bludgeoned (51) off (23), giving the middle-order impetus to the team. Defending champions CSK beat Gujarat Titans by (63) runs to seal a convincing win.
Shivam Dube’s role in CSK’s success has been incredibly significant. Talking about the franchise after his knock, Shivam Dude underscored the amount of freedom with which he plays in the team.
"This franchise is something different from all others. They are giving me freedom. They want me to do better and I also want to win some matches,” Dube said during the post-match presentation.
During his quick innings, Shivam Dube took advantage of short balls, smashing them for big sixes. Speaking on neutralising short balls, Shivam Dube highlighted as to how he has worked in that direction.
“Definitely, I have worked that way (short balls). It is helping me. I know they will bowl me some short balls and I am ready for that. They want me to do the same thing I did today. They want me to score with a higher strike-rate and that is what I am doing.”
Before joining CSK, Shivam Dube was with RCB for two years, having joined them in 2019. While being with RCB, Shivam Dube scored (169) runs from (15) games. In 2021, he was roped in by Rajasthan Royals, before making his way into CSK after being bought by the franchise in 2022.
