Already on the sidelines, CSK wicketkeeper-batter Devon Conway has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League due to an injury. CSK have brought in England pacer Richard Gleeson as his replacement. There were potential chances for Conway to make his return to the side, but all of his chances have been put to rest with the announcement of his unavailability.

Conway sustained a fracture in his left thumb during New Zealand's second T20I match against Australia in February earlier this year. Following which he had undergone surgery.

During the last season, Conway had played an instrumental role in CSK’s title win, hammering 672 runs in his 15 innings. In the absence of Conway, New Zealand’s young sensation Rachin Ravindra has opened the batting for the team alongside skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad.
