BCCI invites applications for the post of head coach as Dravid’s term nears end

As the tenure of incumbent head coach of team India Rahul Dravid nears its end, after the T20I World Cup 2024, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for the position of the head coach of the senior men’s national team. BCCI in its advertisement listed the criteria required to be at the helm of Indian men’s team.
“Applications for the position should be submitted by 6PM IST on May 27, 2024. The selection process will include a thorough review of applications, followed by personal interviews and assessments of shortlisted candidates,” BCCI stated in a release.
- Should have played a minimum of 30 Test Matches or 50 ODI's or
- Head Coach of a full member Test Playing Nation, for a minimum period of 2 years; or
- Head Coach of an Associate member /IPL Team or Equivalent International League/First Class Teams/National A teams, for a minimum period of 3 years; or
- Should have BCCI Level 3 Certification or equivalent; and
- Should be below 60 years of age.
"The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a world class Indian cricket team which delivers sustained success in all conditions and formats, inspiring current and future generations of cricketers and stakeholders with their approach to the game. The Head Coach will have overall responsibility for the performance and management of the India Men's team in all three formats of the game," it noted.
Current head coach Rahul Dravid will be coaching India at the T20I World 2024 in what will be his final assignment as head coach. Rahul Dravid was appointed as the head coach of team India in 2021.
