IPL 2024: Gujarat Titans eliminated following Ahmedabad washout

Last year’s runner-up Gujarat Titans have been eliminated from the ongoing Indian Premier following the washout in Ahmedabad on Monday. Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans were up against each other on Monday, but rain didn’t let the proceedings get underway, forcing the washout. Even, toss could not be done let alone match.
But, it favoured Kolkata Knight Riders, confirming their top-two finish in the points table. Gujarat Titans were already on the brink of the elimination after languishing at the eighth position in the points table. A win against KKR would have kept them engaged in the tournament, with small hopes for playoffs.
This is for the first time that Gujarat Titans have been unable to secure their berth in the playoffs. In 2022, they lifted their maiden IPL trophy in their debut season, and in 2023 they remained the runner-up after losing to CSK in the final. This season Shubman Gill led the the side after Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians in a high-profile deal.
