IPL 2024: Kagiso Rabada returns to South Africa

South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has left for South Africa from the IPL after suffering a lower limb soft tissue infection. Rabada has had to cut short his IPL journey. This comes as a huge disappointment for South Africa ahead of the upcoming T20I World Cup 2024.
Though, his absence will have no impact on Punjab Kings' campaign as they have already been eliminated from the Indian Premier League. Rabada is racing against time to make a complete recovery ahead of the T20I World Cup. However, Cricket South Africa in its statement said that Rabada’s participation at the T20I World Cup is not expected to be hampered.
“The 28-year-old consulted a specialist on arrival in South Africa and is being closely monitored by the Cricket South Africa medical team,” stated Cricket South Africa in a statement.
“His preparation for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA is not expected to be affected,” added the statement.
