Gambhir approached by BCCI for Head Coach job

As the term of incumbent Indian head coach Rahul Dravid approaches its expiry date, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are in search of a fitting and most experienced candidate to take up the job. In a latest development, as per reports, BCCI has approached former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir for the high-profile job. Gautam Gambhir is highly experienced and vastly talented. 

In the latest assignment, Gautam Gambhir is the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders at the ongoing Indian Premier League. KKR have done enormously well this season, having qualified for the playoffs. Previously, Gambhir mentored Lucknow Super Giants at the IPL 2022 and 2023, and they did fairly well, qualifying for the playoffs each time. 

Apart from Gambhir, there have been few other names doing the rounds for the post. During his cricketing journey with team India, Gambhir was member of the team that won T20I World Cup in 2007 and also the ODI World Cup in 2011.
