IPL 2024: What happens if rain ruins the Qualifier 1?

Tuesday, 21-May-2024
News

Two batting supremos Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are gearing up to clash with each other in the Qualifier 1 of the ongoing Indian Premier League on Tuesday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams have been really skilful, unleashing their batting mastery repeatedly. It’s been a season of fruiful results for both teams as they now set their eyes on a direct route to the biggest showdown in Chennai.

But the bigger question remains as to what would happen if rain doesn’t show any mercy and spoils the enthusiasm. Three matches have already witnessed washouts in the ongoing tournament, but nobody would want to see the match between SRH and KKR being spoiled by rain. Even if there is rain delay, then there are extra two hours allotted to finish the proceedings.

But, in the case of heavy downpour and it doesn’t let up, then there is a Reserve Day in place this season so that the match can be played next day. But the match will not be resumed from where it was stopped, instead, it will be played from the beginning. And if the match is tied then both teams will be getting into the Super Over to determine the winner. Meanwhile, Meteorological Department has predicted clear skies for Tuesday with no chance of rain.
