Setting a new record, young pacer Matheesha Pathirana secured a huge deal at the Lanka Premier League, emerging as the most expensive purchase ever in the league with a staggering USD 120,000 pay. Pathirana’s services were acquired by Colombo Strikers for the 2024 season of LPL. Colombo Strikers secured the services of other promising players as well.

They signed up Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz and also roped in Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed. Pathirana has demonstrated his incredibly fascinating bowling skills in the IPL, playing for Chennai Super Kings. He has been terrific in the IPL and now he will look to replicate his form in the LPL as well.

His monsterous bowling has been really hard for seasoned batters to tackle, making him one of the standout stars in the current generation of cricketers. His journey with CSK began in 2022 after being brought in as the replacement for New Zealand player Adam Milne. Pathirana was roped in for INR 20 lakh by CSK.
