In a historic victory, United States clinched the T20I series against Bangladesh by winning the second T20I match by 6 runs on Thursday at Prairie View Cricket Complex. USA bowlers, Ali Khan in particular, delivered an exceptional performance, restricting Bangladesh to (138) (19.3) in their chase of (144). USA now lead the three-match series 2-0.

After being inserted to bat, United States set a target of (144) runs courtesy Monak Patel and Steven Taylor, who provided the team a powerful start, hammering (42) and (31) respectively. Aaron Jones, in the middle order, churned out (35) to power the side to a competitive score.  Due to the opening pair laying a steady foundation, USA made their early dominance over Bangladesh. For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain returned with two wickets each.

Chasing (144), Bangladesh got off to a shaky start, losing early wickets and failing to build any significant partnerships. However, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy, with their scores of (36) and (25) respectively, put on a 48-run partnership to steady the chase for Bangladesh. Veteran Shakib Al Hasan scored (30), trying hard to guide the team over the line but it couldn’t be enough after he was removed by Ali Khan. It was the middle order that attempted to stabilize the innings for Bangladesh, but USA’s tight spell kept Bangladesh under pressure.
