AUS vs NAM, T20I WC warm-up: Warner stars as nine-man Australia edge out Namibia

On the back of Warner’s fierce 54-run knock unbeaten off 21, Australia cruised to their seven-wicket victory against Namibia in their first T20I World Cup warm-up match on Wednesday at Queen’s Park Oval. Four members of Australia’s coaching staff were forced to take the field to make up the numbers as Australia recorded a rollicking start ahead of their World Cup campaign.
Deciding to bowl after winning the toss, Australia restricted Namibia to 119/9 in (20) overs, with Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood returning with three and two wickets respectively. Josh Hazlewood, in particular, was outstanding, coming up with a blistering spell just to give away only five runs from his four overs.
In their chase, Australia remained clam despite losing skipper Mitchell Marsh early for (18 off 14). But Warner kept the pace as he looked in good rhythm in his composed innings that included six boundaries and three sixes. Tim David clobbered (23) off (16) as Australia got home with (10) overs to spare.
Chief selector George Bailey and fielding coach Andre Borovec were the Australian staff members to initially take the field. Later, head coach Andrew McDonald and batting coach Brad Hodge took the field after Mitchell Marsh and Josh Hazlewood went off the field.
