“Felt like a burden on England cricket”: Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer has knocked over world’s top-class batters with his frightful bouncers but his absence for more than a year remained a huge concern for England. Archer’s elbow injury, which also threatened his career, kept him out of action for a long spell. Finally, Archer made his long-awaited return to the international cricket during England’s four-match T20I series against Pakistan last month.

Archer has been incredibly ecstatic about his return to the England side. Archer was in England’s XI as they kickstarted their defence of the T20I World Cup title by taking on Scotland in their opening game. But England’s match against Scotland was washed out due to rain. Still, Jofra Archer bowled two overs, giving away 12 runs. Only ten overs were completed during the match after Scotland opted to bat.

England’s upcoming high-voltage showdown against Australia on Saturday is a must-win battle for them to find their footing in the tournament after their opening match against Scotland was ruined by rain. Ahead of the clash, Jofra Archer said he felt like a 'burden' on England during his rehabilitation from elbow injury.

“I’ve seen a few comments, people saying he's on the longest paid holiday I've ever seen. You try to not let it get to you but you can ignore 100 of them but sometimes that 101st is the straw that breaks the camel's back. Sometimes you feel like a burden not playing," BBC quoted  Archer as saying.
