Pakistan eliminated after washout in Florida

News

Pakistan’s campaign at the ongoing T20I World Cup 2024 came to a disturbing end after the clash between USA and Ireland was washed out due to relentless rainfall in Florida. As a result of washout, USA progressed to the Super Eight stage of the tournament. USA joined the likes of South Africa, Australia, India, West Indies and Afghanistan in making it to the Super Eight.

Pakistan were staring at the match very anxiously as this was the game that was carrying their fate. Heavy rainfall has been lashing the parts of Florida over the past few days, making it really difficult for groundsmen to get the pitch ready.

However, blowers and Vaccums were used to dry the pitch but consistent rainfall made it impossible for the match to get underway. Both teams shared one point each as a result of washout.

USA with five points made it to the Super Eight. Pakistan struggled hard in this edition of the tournament as their defeats against USA and India dwindled their campaign. Pakistan’s defeat against USA was one of the heaviest defeats in the history of T20I World Cup.
