West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews is set to miss the third and final ODI match against Sri Lanka due to an illness. Stand-in captain Shemaine Campbell will be leading the side in Hayley’s absence. Shemaine also led the side in the second ODI after Hayley Matthews marked her absence in that game too.

Currently, Sri Lanka Women are leading the series 2-0, having won both their first and second game. It’s been really demanding for West Indies in the absence of Hayley Matthews. Now that the series is out of their reach, West Indies would look to play for pride when they face Sri Lanka in the third ODI on Friday.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) in a statement announced Hayley’s absence by stating that she will continue to be monitored by the CWI medical team.

"West Indies Captain, Hayley Matthews has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI Series against Sri Lanka due to illness. She will continue to be monitored by the CWI Medical Team and will hopefully recover in time for the T20I series. Everyone at CWI wishes her a speedy recovery," read the statement.
