India looking for semi-final revenge against England

News

India are well positioned and remain in scintillating form as they gear up to challenge defending champions England in the semi-final 2 of the ongoing T20I World Cup 2024 on Thursday at Providence Stadium, Guyana. The high-stakes encounter brings with it not just the excitement of world-class cricket but also a narrative of redemption for men in blue, who were thrashed by England in the semi-final during the last edition of the T20I World Cup.

Team India will be keenly eying revenge against England. India have won all of their last matches and registered a dominant win against Australia on Monday to qualify into the semi-final. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was seen at his best during Australia match, unleashing a flurry of boundaries to knock off a monstrous innings of 92. Rohit’s knock trumped Australia’s world-class bowling attack led by Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. India have played remarkably well throughout the group stage and Super Eight to continue their dominance in the tournament.

This time around, India are having the full-fledged attack whether it is bowling or batting department, having remained hugely impressive. England will be met with a massive challenge when they face India as men in blue have Jasprit Bumrah this time unlike last time when he missed the tournament due to an injury. Jasprit Bumrah's lethal pace and pinpoint accuracy have been instrumental in India's success over the last three weeks.

On the other hand, England will be out to stop India's juggernaut to storm into the final of the tournament. Rising from a desultory start, England have been phenomenal, fighting hard to maintain their status. Their versatile bowling attack spearheaded by Jofra Archer, Reece Topley, Mark Wood and Adil Rashid will be pivotal. Adil Rashid will be the key for England to resist India’s formidable batting attack as he has been the befitting nemesis to Indian batsmen. There is a lot at stake for India who are searching for their first World Cup win in any format since 2011. Recently, India lost the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia, despite having remained unbeaten during the group stage.
