Former Indian batting coach’s massive prediction about Shubman Gill

Young Indian batter Shubman Gill recently led team India to a 4-1 series win in the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, earning huge accolades for his massive success. Over the past few years, Gill has played a remarkable role in Indian team, having made his appearances across all the formats.
His calm demeanour has earned him a lot of praises, thus earning calls to lead India at times. Recently, India named their squads for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, where they are scheduled to play T20I and ODI series, and Gill was named the vice-captain of India in T20Is and ODIs.
Amid Gill’s rise, former Indian head coach Vikram Rathour, whose term came to an end at the end of T20I World Cup 2024, said that in future, Gill could be captaining India across all formats, given the kind of swashbuckling talent he possesses.
"I feel captaincy brought the best out of Virat and Rohit and I feel it will do the same for Shubman. Although, he is not yet the captain, being in the leadership group will bring the best out of him as well. This is I am very sure off. When you are in that role, leading others, it gives you that extra bit of responsibility, which is good and I think is great for a young kid like Shubman, who one day might lead India in all three formats," Rathour told The Indian Express.
“When I first saw him in the nets, my first impression was like everybody else’s. I saw exactly what a lot of people were talking about and spoke about his special talent. When the first time I saw him playing, the immediate thought that went into my mind was ‘whoa this kid is extremely talented’. He knew his game, he understood how he needs to bat in different situations and never shied away from challenges," he said.
