Afghanistan Cricket Board slaps five-year ban on Ihsanullah Janat

Afghanistan batter Ihsanullah Janat has been banned from all forms of cricket activities for five years by Afghanistan Cricket Board for breaching the ACB and ICC’s anti-corruption code. The ACB, in a statement, said Ihsanullah had breached ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code during the second season of the Kabul Premier League this year. Ihsanullah last represented Afghanistan in 2022.
"Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which involves improper influence or efforts to fix the result, progress, conduct, or any other aspect of a match," the ACB said in a statement. "In light of this violation, he has been handed a five-year ban from all cricket-related activities. Janat has admitted to the charges and confessed to his involvement in corrupt activities."
Ihsanullah has appeared for Afghanistan in 16 ODIs, three Tests and a T20I match.
In its statement, Afghanistan Cricket Board also stated that board is also investigating three other players over possible corruption charges. Ihsanullah’s ban is effective immediately.
“Decisions regarding their involvement will be made upon confirmation of their guilt,” the statement added.
