Ian Bell appointed Sri Lanka’s batting coach for England Tests

Former England batter Ian Bell has been named Sri Lanka’s batting coach for their upcoming three-match Test series on their tour of England. The first of three Tests will be beginning on August 21 at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. 

"We appointed Ian to bring in a person with local knowledge to help the players with key insights on the conditions there. Ian has a lot of experience playing in England, and we believe his inputs will help our team in this crucial tour," SLC CEO Ashley De Silva said.

Following his England retirement, Ian Bell has been involved in coaching roles, having coached England men’s U-19 and England Lions teams. He has also worked as an assistant coach at Hobart Hurricanes. Last year he worked as an assistant with New Zealand men’s team ahead of the ODI World Cup. Lately, he has been part of coaching staff at Melbourne Renegades in BBL.
