Bangladesh’s Shoriful Islam ruled out of 2nd Test against Pakistan

In a significant setback for Bangladesh, fast bowler Shoriful Islam has been ruled out of the ongoing second Test against Pakistan due to a groin injury. The news comes as a blow to Bangladesh’s bowling lineup, with Islam being an ever-reliable bowler. Taskin Ahmed replaced Shoriful Islam in Bangladesh’s playing XI for the second Test that got underway on day 2 on Saturday after day 1 was washed out due to persistent rain.
"Shoriful underwent an MRI following the first Test and the results show a Grade 1 left adductor strain. Recovery usually takes around 10 days in such cases and he has started his rehab," Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said.
Shoriful Islam had played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s 10-wicket win against Pakistan in the first game by taking three wickets. Shoriful will hope to recover in time to participate in Bangladesh’s two-match Test series against India next month.
