Rishabh Pant features among top ten in Test batting rankings

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has successfully re-entered the top 10 in the ICC Test batting rankings, featuring at No.6, following a remarkable century in India’s first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai. Rishabh Pant is at No.6 in the batting rankings with 731 rating points. Pant bludgeoned 39 and 109 in the first and second innings respectively, marking a triumphant return to the longest format since a car crash accident in December 2022.
In addition to Pant’s impressive innings, several other players also made significant gains in the rankings. Opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal moved to the fifth position on the back of his 56-run knock in the first innings of India’s first Test against Bangladesh. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma went down to No. 10 from No.5. Rohit Sharma didn’t have good outings in both innings in the first game, registering the scores of 6 and 5 respectively. Virat Kohli recorded a significant dip, falling five spots down to No.12.
Young star Shubman Gill moved five places to 14th. On the bowling front, Sri Lankan spinner Prabath Jayasuriya was the big gainer. He moved five spots to No.8. He shone with the ball in Sri Lanka’s first Test against New Zealand, claiming the figures of 4 for 136 and 5 for 68 across both innings. R Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah dominate the bowlers’ rankings, sitting on the first and second positions respectively.
