Abhishek Sharma blasts joint second-fastest T20 century

Explosive Indian batter Abhishek Sharma has smashed the second-fastest T20 century, bringing himself in level with Urvil Patel, who reached the milestone last week in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Meanwhile, Abhishek achieved the record while playing for Punjab against Meghalaya in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Abhishek plundered his hundred in 28 balls in team’s seven-wicket win. 

The record for fastest T20 century belongs to Sahil Chauhan, who blasted his hundred off 27 balls for Estonia against Cyprus in June this year. Talking about the match, Meghalaya scored 142 in 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Chasing the target, Punjab registered their victory in 9.3 overs, amassing 144 for the loss of three wickets. Abhishek Sharma had been retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 14 crore ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.
