Saim Ayub officially out of Champions Trophy

Pakistan opener Saim Ayub has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy following an ankle injury. Saim Ayub picked up the injury during Pakistan’s recent Test series against South Africa. Pakistan have officially confirmed that Saim Ayub is out of the Champions Trophy. Pakistan’s preliminary squad for Champions Trophy has already been announced but Saim Ayub had been left out of the squad. 

As per PCB, “Saim (Ayub) has been ruled out for 10 weeks from the date of injury (3 January),”. “His availability for the New Zealand tour will be subject to clearing all fitness tests and medical requirements,".

Meanwhile, Champions Trophy is set to begin on February 19, and defending champions Pakistan will take on New Zealand in the opening match of the tournament. Mohammad Rizwan will be leading Pakistan in the presence of prominent figures such as Babar Azam, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi
