“This is not T20”: Former England cricketer’s warning to Arshdeep Singh ahead of Champions Trophy

Team India will kick off their Champions Trophy campaign without the availability of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who has been sidelined due to a back injury. Bumrah failed to recover in time for the Champions Trophy, following which he was ruled out of the tournament. Bumrah had suffered back spasms during the final Test in Sydney against Australia last month, which also forced him to sit out of the recently concluded ODI series against England.

In Bumrah’s absence, Arshdeep Singh is believed to be the potential replacement for Bumrah. Former England cricketer David Lloyd has said that Arshdeep Singh will need to adapt to ODI cricket as soon as possible in order to make an impact for the team.

“You are going to miss him (Bumrah),” Lloyd said on TalkSPORT.

“You can't get away from the fact that the best bowler in the world isn't playing, then you've got a problem.”

"If you are the opposition, test him out, really get into him."

"This is not T20, this not a little party, you've got to come back and come back again, and that is something he won't be used to."

Having played nine ODI for India, Arshdeep Singh has claimed 14 wickets. Meanwhile, India will start their Champions Trophy campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh at Dubai International Stadium.
