Bella James ruled out of Sri Lanka ODIs

New Zealand player Bella James has been ruled out of team’s upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka with a grade-two quadricep strain on her right leg. She has been replaced by Laura Down in the squad as she will need three-to-six-week of rehabilitation. New Zealand Women head coach Ben Sawyer hoped that Bella James will be fully fit for the T20I series.
“We’re all gutted for Bella. She had a strong start to her international cricket career in December so it’s a shame she doesn’t get the opportunity to back that up this series,” New Zealand head coach Ben Sawyer said.
"But we’re hopeful she’ll be tracking to return for the T20s”.
Sawyer also lauded Down, calling her a fitting replacement for Bella.
“Lauren brings plenty of experience to the group. She’s been a key contributor for the Hearts this season and we’re pleased she’ll get the opportunity to take that form into this series.”
The three-match ODI series will begin on March 4 with the first game at McLean Park. The second and third ODIs will be played on March 7 and 9 respectively.
