Former Australian cricketer David Warner has been named the new captain of the Karachi Kings for the upcoming season of 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), marking a significant move for both the player and the franchise. Warner, who brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Karachi’s squad, will replace Shan Masood at the helm. This will also mark Warner's maiden appearance in the PSL after becoming the Kings’ first pick in the Players Draft 2025 held at the iconic Hazuri Bagh in Lahore on January 13.

"The dynamic left-handed batsman, renowned for his aggressive leadership and match-winning prowess, will spearhead the franchise’s campaign in the highly anticipated season," the franchise said in a release on Monday.

Karachi Kings, who haven’t been able to make it to the playoffs in last three seasons, will look to come out of poor run under the leadership of Warner. Having recently led Sydney Thunder to the final of 2024-25 Big Bash League, Warner’s appointment as Karachi’s skipper brings new hope.
