Carrying on with their hard-hitting form, dangerous batters Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran blasted Lucknow Super Giants to a thrilling five-wicket IPL win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their second match of the tournament on Thursday at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. Both Marsh and Pooran smashed 52 and 70 respectively to help LSG pull off their first win of the season.

The LSG side showcased both resilience and aggression as they comfortably chased down SRH’s total of 190 in just 16.1 overs, with Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran playing pivotal roles in the run chase.

Earlier, SRH, who were asked to bat, were immediately put under pressure by LSG’s disciplined bowling attack. SRH could only muster 190 runs in 20 overs. Despite an anchoring 47-run knock from Travis Head, SRH’s other batsmen failed to put up a significant fight. However, there were little cameos from Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen and Aniket Verma, cracking 32, 26 and 36 respectively.

LSG’s bowlers were on top throughout, with Shardul Thakur leading the charge. Thakur was in his element, troubling SRH batters with his incredible bowling, eventually finishing with an impressive four-wicket haul. LSG, in response, came out with all guns blazing. Their task was made easier by a strong start from opener Mitchell Marsh

Marsh remained aggressive, finding seven boundaries and two sixes with ease. His knock of 52 runs came off just 31 balls. Pooran, on the other hand coming at no.3, also contributed with a solid 70 runs, playing a supporting role to Marsh's fireworks. Down the order, Abdul Samad and David Miller remained unbeaten on 22 and 13 respectively as LSG finished at 193/5 in 16.1 overs.
