Gaikwad remains doubtful for CSK’s clash against DC

As the Chennai Super Kings prepare for their crucial home match against Delhi Capitals, there is growing concern over the availability of their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who remains doubtful for the game. Veteran star MS Dhoni is likely to step in to take up the captaincy reins if Gaikwad registers his absence. Gaikwad had copped a blow on the elbow while batting in CSK's last game against Rajasthan Royals. He looked in extreme pain; however, he went on to bat, scoring a half-century.

"And, yeah, it [elbow] is still a little bit sore, but it's improving every day. So, we're very hopeful that he'll be fine for tomorrow," CSK batting coach Mike Hussey said.

Hussey also hinted at the likely possibility of MS Dhoni taking up the captaincy against DC.

"I'm not sure. He's got a bit of experience in the role, so maybe he could do it. But I'm not exactly sure, to be honest."

CSK are currently in dire need of a win to revive their campaign after back-to-back defeats. Their last defeat came against Rajasthan Royals.
